Basic Intensive Workshop – Outdoor Based

This beautiful setting woodland site offers accommodation for all in 8-bed cabins in the Reedcutters’ Village more information can be found via this link. The village has a marquee providing a communal space for cooking, and there are also shower and toilet facilities. We are walking distance from the river and there will be the opportunity to take part in some waterbased activities as well as activities in the woodlands, as part of the workshop.

While covering the content to meet the requirements of the William Glasser Institute UK we will also being using the natural environment, the shared camping experience and other activities to help bring the concepts of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy alive. There will be plenty of opportunity to explore how to apply the ideas and practical tools you learn into the contexts and settings you work in.

Participants will learn:

  • What really motivatesyoung people and how to tap into this to support change
  • How to help young people not only find solutions to presenting problems, but also identify and move beyond the underlying cause(s) – rather than continually deal with emotional/behavioural symptoms
  • An approach that is cognitive behavioural in nature but with an action-led andholistic focus, that is informed by the Choice Theory Psychology, and can be readily integrated with many other approaches
  • How to help young people evaluate their own behaviour and overall direction, and make more effective choices on a ‘want to’ basis

This workshop is being delivered by 'Developing Youth Practice', our background and experience is engaging and working directly with young people in a variety of contexts and settings.
