Choice Theory has had a positive impact on our work with children and young people in the outdoors.  Since incorporating some of the language and principles of Choice Theory into our approach, we feel that our staff team are more effective at building relationships and supporting people to achieve better outcomes.  In particular, using the ‘connecting habits’ and ‘total behaviour model’ to build trust and resolve difficult/distressing situations has been extremely helpful.

We build confidence and capability within community sports coaches to work effectively as mentors and role models, an essential element of supporting vulnerable young people to achieve positive outcomes. The application of Choice Theory provides a really clear framework to enable coaches to support young people and to mentor them on their journey to realise their own goals.

The way that the TCOYL workshop was delivered allowed people in the group to feel comfortable and at ease. I learnt so much, the most significant points were that my daughters need for Freedom clashes with my need for love and belonging. And that I have needs too and that they are as important as everyone else’s.

I would just like to thank you for the wonderful course we have just been on, myself and Ellie had a really good time it was very interesting, and we have both taken such a lot away from it and will continue to work with your information.
